Internet Explorer is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included in the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, starting in 1995. It was first released as part of the add-on package Plus! for Windows 95 that year.
To open Internet Explorer, select Start , and enter Internet Explorer in Search . Select Internet Explorer (Desktop app) from the results. If you can't find Internet Explorer on your device, you'll need to add it as a feature. Select Start > Search , and enter Windows features.
Starting from January 12, 2016, Microsoft will be dropping support for all versions of Internet Explorer other than the recent version for its still-supported operating systems. In practical terms, for Microsoft's consumer operating systems, that means: Windows 8.1: Internet Explorer 11.
How To Update Internet Explorer
Click on the Start icon.
Type in "Internet Explorer."
Select Internet Explorer.
Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
Select About Internet Explorer.
Check the box next to Install new versions automatically.
Click Close.
It first launched in August 1995 and now the latest (and final) version is Internet Explorer 11; released October 2013. Internet Explorer is tightly linked to the Windows Operating System; as such, different versions of Windows can only run certain versions of Internet Explorer.
